Immigration

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

There has been quite a debate over Immigration since Arizona passed their State Law on the subject. My own take is that Arizona should have never had to consider this Legislation. The fact is that the U.S. Government failed miserably, as usual, in solving the problem of illegal immigration. The second point is that this law mimics almost word for word, the Federal Law, which it had to do in order to pass Constitutional muster. The Spin placed on it is disgusting! Where were all of the people protesting the Federal Law? The simple fact is that no one worried about the Federal Law because they knew that it wouldn’t be enforced anyway.

The Solution
Before the U.S. can have a meaningful immigration program, we MUST secure our borders! Not only to enforce immigration but to keep the bad guys out (Terrorist). Once the borders are secured, then we can address immigration. The U.S. was founded on immigrants and I wholeheartedly support a path to Immigration and eventual Citizenship for those that choose to do so. I don’t believe in the “Anchor Baby” interpretation of the Constitution and feel that it needs addressed. If you are an illegal alien, then your offspring should also be considered illegal. The Immigration Law should address illegal aliens that voluntarily turn themselves in to become Legal Immigrants. Not to be confused with Amnesty, this program should recognize that these people are seeking to live within the law and provide a way to do so. A thorough background check and modest penalties should be imposed. If the alien has been in trouble with the law or they refuse to pay the penalties, they should be deported. Any alien that refuses to follow the law should be deported.

On the flip side of the coin, our Immigration Laws are daunting to say the least. The Government should streamline the process, simplify it, and get rid of the lottery system currently employed now. Our potential immigrants should be able to participate in the process without the need for miles of red tape and endless legal cost. Read about a victim of the system here

A final word to those who are protesting! Before you go out and protest, educate yourself. Review both the Federal Laws and the new Arizona State Law. Make sure you’re not part of the Mob Mentality that usually has alterer motives that preys upon fear and hysteria. Don’t resort to violence as it poisons the message and reduces you to nothing more than a criminal.

Making Them Sweat!

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Yesterday I commented on the latest talk about Sarah Palin making a run for the 2012 nomination for President. It just so happens that my favorite news source, FOXNEWS, broke a story about “The Tea Party Movement.” Seems that “The People’s Voices” are being heard and the spin doctors are out in force to try and quell the dissent! The story from FOX is here. The real story lies in who is behind the web site. Unions and their fat cat PAC bosses are trying to derail, minimize, and plain spew outright lies about a grassroot group that wants nothing more than to pull our Country back from the brink of failure! I invite all of you to avail yourselves of the feedback to this site at and let them know how you feel!

Town Hall Catalyst for Electorate

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Over the last several days, Town Halls across the nation have been subjected to demonstrations that have in a few instances, degenerated to violence. Democrats and Republicans are now crying foul as they play the blame game. The Democratic Leadership accusing the Republican Leadership of a coordinated conservative attack and Republicans denying any knowledge!

BAAAAHHHH! BAAAAHHHH! The sheep aren’t smart enough to coordinate their own grass roots efforts. Both sides seem hell bent on ignoring the literally hundreds of grass roots groups springing forth all over this country. These groups are a mix of many different points of view. Most are neither far left or right but ALL carry a common theme, “We are tired of not being heard! We are alarmed that substantial legislation is being passed into law in the Congress that no one has had the opportunity to read and consider! We are sick of being ignored while our children’s inheritance is being squandered away.”

A Washington newspaper article with a Democratic slant tells the story of activist on the move. Loosely organized protesters intent on keeping heat on Obama health plans The article articulates the two party’s positions on the subject but ignores the third and most probable explanation. People are fed up with their government treating them like little children and are fighting back. People are frustrated and unfortunately this is spilling over to violent confrontations! When you have people chanting “Hear our voice!” and “Read the Bill”, it should send a clear message to lawmakers!

While Healthcare is a contentious subject, I personally feel that this has less to do with healthcare and more to do with the timing of the Town Halls themselves. This is the first opportunity that people have had to assemble and directly interact with their lawmakers and to vent their frustration over being ignored. When you call your Congressmen; Write your Congressman; or visit the office and you see no response, the last resort is to start demonstrating! This was evident earlier this year at Tea Party events across the nation. Since that time, several hundred more groups have started organizing!

Lawmakers need to get the message and start being responsible to their bosses, THE ELECTORATE!!! If they won’t, then 2010 and 2012 will be years to remember for many lawmakers.
