When you run out of Politicians to blame, blame the Electorate

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Well the progressive movement in this Country has finally run out of Politicians so they have now resorted to blaming the Electorate! That is the American People for those of us that are “Dodo’s.” Several MSM talking heads, Jacob Weisberg of Newsweek; Steven Pearlstein of the Washington Post; and Bill Mayer just to name a few have opined that the American People are too simple to understand what is good for them.

Well folks, lets get one thing straight, just because a majority of Americans don’t subscribe to a far left agenda of ideas to completely transform our healthcare or balloon spending and taxes to ludicrous levels doesn’t mean that we are too simple to understand the implications. Quite the contrary, we understand all too well the implications and we DON’T LIKE THEM!! It means that we respectfully don’t agree with your solutions and we would like the opportunity to explore other solutions.

Just in case you have let it slip your mind, we are supposed to be a government “OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE PEOPLE.” Politicians have already been put on notice, yet they continue to push these Bills into law.

Mr. Obama had it right during the “Healthcare Summit” when he said, “The elections are over!”, however, elections are on the horizon and “We, the people” will have the last word!

Glenn Beck at CPAC

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

WOW! What a keynote speech delivered at CPAC by Glenn Beck!! It has long been said that we can learn from history and Glenn is very good at reminding us about American history. Personal Responsibility – What a concept! Lower Taxes, Lower Spending = JOBS and GROWTH of America. President Calvin Coolidge’s leadership was used as a prime example of a path to fix America’s woes.

Everyone agrees that healthcare has issues that must be addressed but to Nationalize or radically change it is not the answer. Targeted, direct action against the problems while leaving the parts that work intact is the ONLY answer that works. When will OUR government listen to us? Maybe in the later half of 2010 or if they are really hard headed, 2012. Regardless, America needs to stand up and take back our country!

Town Hall Catalyst for Electorate

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Over the last several days, Town Halls across the nation have been subjected to demonstrations that have in a few instances, degenerated to violence. Democrats and Republicans are now crying foul as they play the blame game. The Democratic Leadership accusing the Republican Leadership of a coordinated conservative attack and Republicans denying any knowledge!

BAAAAHHHH! BAAAAHHHH! The sheep aren’t smart enough to coordinate their own grass roots efforts. Both sides seem hell bent on ignoring the literally hundreds of grass roots groups springing forth all over this country. These groups are a mix of many different points of view. Most are neither far left or right but ALL carry a common theme, “We are tired of not being heard! We are alarmed that substantial legislation is being passed into law in the Congress that no one has had the opportunity to read and consider! We are sick of being ignored while our children’s inheritance is being squandered away.”

A Washington newspaper article with a Democratic slant tells the story of activist on the move. Loosely organized protesters intent on keeping heat on Obama health plans The article articulates the two party’s positions on the subject but ignores the third and most probable explanation. People are fed up with their government treating them like little children and are fighting back. People are frustrated and unfortunately this is spilling over to violent confrontations! When you have people chanting “Hear our voice!” and “Read the Bill”, it should send a clear message to lawmakers!

While Healthcare is a contentious subject, I personally feel that this has less to do with healthcare and more to do with the timing of the Town Halls themselves. This is the first opportunity that people have had to assemble and directly interact with their lawmakers and to vent their frustration over being ignored. When you call your Congressmen; Write your Congressman; or visit the office and you see no response, the last resort is to start demonstrating! This was evident earlier this year at Tea Party events across the nation. Since that time, several hundred more groups have started organizing!

Lawmakers need to get the message and start being responsible to their bosses, THE ELECTORATE!!! If they won’t, then 2010 and 2012 will be years to remember for many lawmakers.

Represent Me or Quit

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

I am a registered Republican but I vote on the person not the party. My problem is that I cannot find anyone in the political arena that I can put any faith in to REPRESENT ME!! I think that I speak for a majority of Americans when I say that our supposed representatives in Washington and to a great extent, State and Local Governments have lost focus on their constituents and push whatever agenda benefits them most. This attitude has fostered and nurtured the economic chaos that is now in our midst. Everyone knows that every decision entails a consequence and reward. Well in case anyone has missed it, we are fresh out of the rewards and the consequences are coming to bear.

The single largest drag on the US economy is the public debt. The US is effectively bankrupt! Don’t believe it? Ask China’s premier who has voiced concern over America’s direction and its ability to pay off the huge debt that China owns! That is one of the purposes for Mrs. Clintons visit to the People’s Republic. The only way out of this mess is to do what Obama claimed he was going to do during the campaign, couple a strategic stimulus plan with equal cuts in the US budget to offset it. His “plan” further called for balancing the budget by 2011!

That “plan” was thrown out the window on innauguration day and capped off by the largest “Stimulus” PORK in our country’s history. What is really needed NOW are the following actions:

Stop the stimulus package and freeze it until a comprehensive review can be carried out by an independent group of economist and business leaders line by line with the emphasis on long term, sustainable growth. If it smells like pork, remove it!

Return the President’s budget to him and tell him to sharpen his pencil! We don’t just need a balanced budget, we need a budget that will start paying down the National Debt with real principle payments, not just debt service.

Give the President the power of the line item veto and make sure that he uses it! If he won’t use it or doesn’t start being fiscally responsible, let him know about it in 2012. As a matter of fact, make sure that Congress follows the same rules or live with their mistakes on election day 2010.

Term limits! We need to get rid of the power brokers and the dead wood. Most Congressman are so entrenched with huge war chest that new blood cannot even compete even if their message is strong because they are outspent during the elections.

Throw out the current Federal Tax Code and start anew with a fair tax system that applies to all equally. No deductions, no exemptions, no corporate tax shelters. A straight percentage of earnings regardless of how you spend it. The displaced IRS workers can be moved over to enforcement in and around the Washington DC area where it seems that most of our current deliquencies are occuring.

Leave the free market system to the market and stop socializing and nationalizing business and healthcare. Government has a really poor record of management as it is, don’t compound it by allowing them to run business where the goal is obtain a return on investments or healthcare where Medicaid is broke and Medicare is not far behind. They have shown a propensity to fail repeatedly in that regard.
